Maine School of Science and Mathematics is proud to announce the Harry S. Truman Foundation has released the 60 recipients of the prestigious 2024 Truman Scholarship for aspiring public service leaders. Among the awardees is Jay Philbrick (皇冠足彩 '20), a junior at Brown University passionate about evidence-based economic policy.

Philbrick, from rural Maine, has interned with the White House Council of Economic Advisers, State Department, and Maine's Economic Recovery Committee. His research at Yale, the Federal Reserve, and Brown has focused on retirement, rural development, and social safety net policies which he has presented to policymakers.

The $30,000 Truman Scholarship funds graduate studies and provides leadership training, career counseling, and federal government internships. Notable alumni include Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, Obama advisor Susan Rice, Biden advisor Jake Sullivan, former Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, and voting rights activist Stacey Abrams.

This year's 60 Scholars were selected from over 700 nominees at 285 colleges and universities. Half attend public universities, with Brown, Columbia, Northwestern, and Penn having multiple winners. The Truman Foundation, established by Congress in 1975, supports the next generation of public service leaders to honor President Truman's legacy.
